The most necessary thing for the trip has officially been purchased!! Aka the plane ticket :) It was quite a nervous event, I must say. I waited 5 minutes staring at the Confirm Ticket button, trying to muster up the courage to click it- knowing that it would lock me in to 5 weeks in South Africa. But no turning back now! The ticket it purchased in my name, and is non-refundable/non-transferrable. Door of Hope, here I come!
I am so excited to serve God through serving these little kids! But I'm even more excited to learn so much more about the Lord's heart for the lost, broken, and poor. He has a whole lot to teach me, and I'm hoping to just be a sponge while I'm there- taking it all in, learning all He wants me to, and learning about truly having a servant's heart while I am volunteering. I can not waitttt! It's just 2 more weeks til my take off. Crazy.
Isaiah 6:8- Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"
"Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged,
for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

And So It Begins... :)
So after research (or stalking, depending on how you look at it) I realized that most people dedicate their first blog post to the reason why they started blogging... should I conform? Eh, I'm thinking so.
Today I got a long awaited email that I will be going to South Africa for 4 weeks this summer!! And I'll be leaving in T minus 17 days! Late notice, I know. But it makes it all the more fun! I will be spending time in an orphanage playing the mother role for many little babies. Even if that means getting close to no sleep, I am still so very excited :) sleep is for the weak anyhow.
I wanted to keep friends and family updated with my time spent there, so that is why this blog was born (but more realistically they were the ones that wanted me to start it. I just gave in to peer pressure, per usual). We will see if it continues when I return... ooooh the suspense!
Here goes nothin, let the fun begin!
