First and foremost. I want to apologize for my lack of pictures so far! I wanted to take some right as I was getting here, but I was looking like a complete mess and I thought I might lose friends over it. I promise- next post will contain pictures!
I am safely landed in Johannesburg, South Africa! (or just Jo'burg, if I don't want to sound like a complete tourist...) The plane ride was definitely long. Geez louise, what do they expect people to do for 16 hours on a plane? I had plenty of time to finish up a book I was reading- Spiritual Leadership, journal a ton, watch a few movies, try to naps, talk to my seat partner (aka GENIUS. goes to harvard... nbd), eat some lovely plane food, listen to music, and other various activities I tried to use to fill the time. It was nice to get off the plane and have the weather be nice and cold since its winter here! The AC was not working on the plane so it was seriously 100 degrees in that little vessel. NOT the most comfortable... especially with turbulence and people hurling. But hey its all good, it got me here!
God has already started molding me- that is one thing about the long flight that I am very thankful of. It was a lot of time to reflect and sink deep into my thinking bubble. After reading through Psalm 119 and journaling, I was filled with so much awe when, once again, I realized my Creator knows my heart so much better than I know my own (I like to refer to this feeling as getting smacked with the humble stick... it happens quite often). When I find what my heart has been crying out for in scripture, it is a feeling that is so overwhelming. I simply love it.
Okay, enough of the deep stuff. You will realize I have the tendency to get deep real quick... some people like it and see it as being super open, and others get freaked out. So I'll try to walk the balance :)
So I get off the plane, looking to see a girl holding a sign that says "Kelley Kraft"... but I see nothing. No sign, no one waiting (well, no one waiting for me). So I chilled out for a while, realizing there was really nothing I could do but sit there and wait since I don't have a phone or anything. After 4 people came up to me with big smiles asking if I was different girls (Brittany?! Lisa?! Rebecca?! Sarah?!) finally a really cute girl came up and asked, "Kelley?!" It was perfect. It was Jess- the volunteer coordinator with the Door of Hope. She is the sweetest woman ever. So we got all my stuff and drove to the baby house that I am staying in! I got a chance to unpack everything, go grocery shopping, and then hang out with the 13 babies that I will be taking care of while I am here (and another little girl is coming tonight!). There are about 10 volunteers here, all of them are sweet as pie. I am really looking forward to get to know all of these girls and form friendships!
And the BABIES! Seriously the cutest little thangs ever. They each have their own little personality. There were a few boys that were trying to steal my attention from the other ones... not tryna brag or anything. The other volunteers say its my blonde hair- but I think they just like me as a person. But I am already starting to get to know all their names! And I'm only working off of a few hours of sleep. Tomorrow I'm going to get them all down pat- that's my goal.
I should probably just leave you with that or you guys are going to get way too bored of all my typing and blabbing you'll stop stalking my blog. Keep checking up on me! Mucho love.
Till next time! <3
Side note- There isn't internet at the house I am staying at, so I'm not sure how often I will get to write to you all!! I will be journaling a lot though, so I won't forget to fill you in on the big stuff :)
Ps. the title touchdown for this post is a bit confusing. I was trying to think of another one and I just can't. But its touchdown like when the plane touched down. Not to be confused with the touchdowns like the Philadelphia Eagles do so well.
I forgot I had these pictures of the sunrise! So much prettier in person, but these show a glimpse of the view I saw :)

Ah! Kelley! I'm so pumped for you! You are such an inspiration and I can only imagine what incredibly huge plans God has in-store for you. Thanks for sharing this part of your life and I'm excited to hear more about it when we come back to school. Love you! -Epayne
